Blank Bottle is one of the most exciting projects in South Africa. As the name suggests, they don’t put any information on the bottle so that people won’t be inclined to judge a book by its cover. Every year, more than 30 different wines are produced, most of which are never repeated. Unique blends are created depending on the vintage, using fruit from an incredible array of vineyard sites. Blank Bottle wines are always balanced, fresh, and full of character. The labels are designed by the owner and every bottle is wax dipped. Follow along on the  website  to learn the story behind each name!

Each case contains 1 bottle of each wine listed below:

2015 Pink Bomb

A thoroughly balanced rosé. This wine is “fresh as a daisy”; a blend of Syrah from Ceres Plateaux combined with Grenache from the Swartland, as well as a splash on Cinsault. A great thirst quencher for spring.

2018 Air Carrots of Pagnol

This wine is a blend of Grenache Blanc from Wellington and Swartland as well as a dash of Grenache Gris. The wine was fermented in French oak barrels and then a portion of it was left on the skins for a few days, adding texture and complexity to this full-bodied white wine. Like many of his wines, this one has a serendipitous story behind it that’s not to be missed – but first, see & read Manon des Sources.

2016 Manon des Sources

This bottle-aged white is made from mostly Weisser Riesling with a sprinkling of Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc. The wine is quite intense and concentrated with exotic fruit and lightly floral notes. The addition of Semillon, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc add some weight to the racy Riesling. Manon des Sources is named after the 1966 novel of the same name by Marcel Pagol, in reference to this young daughter’s stubborn ways.

2019 Rabbitsfoot

An atypical South African Sauvignon Blanc. A rich, barrel-aged wine with ripe peach and lush stone fruit notes. This is rounded on the palate but balanced by bright acidity and tropical, grassy aromatics.

2017 My Eie Stofpad

This Bordeaux-style blend of mostly Cabernet Franc (with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon & Malbec) has ample blackcurrant notes, savoury herbal character, and fine tannins. Mid-weight and vibrant.

2019 Retirement @ 65

Now in its fourth vintage, this wine boasts an old-world feel. It’s a supremely elegant Cinsault-dominant blend with a little Shiraz thrown in. The Cinsault fruit comes from 68+ year-old vines that are just hitting their stride -- hence the wine’s title; it seems this block has come to life much later in life. Fresh, perfumed, and highly drinkable at just 12% abv.
