This is an exciting case - three treasures from Canada’s best sparkling wine producer in Nova Scotia. Located in the cool-climate Gaspereau Valley, Benjamin Bridge is known for their distinctively East Coast wines that are made in the traditional Champagne method. This case is a perfect introduction, and a rare opportunity to taste the winery’s three flagship wines. High acidity and salty minerality make these an ideal pairing with seafood.

2 bottles each of:

Name: Benjamin Bridge NV Brut
Region:
NOVA SCOTIA
Country: CANADA

This sparkling wine is a blend made from several vintages of different estate-grown grapes – this one includes Chardonnay and Canadian hybrid, L’Acadie. It is quite distinctive and slightly aromatic. It is pale golden in colour and has aromas of lemon rind, golden apple and freshly baked bread.

A tour de force! With 50 percent white L'Acadie blend, Jean-Benoit Deslauriers, with pinot noir and Chardonnay complement, has come to make a sparkling at once nervous and elegant, enhanced with floral notes.” 90 Marc Chapleau, (Wine Align)

Name: Benjamin Bridge NV Brut Rose

This rose sparkler is a little more playful than the NV Brut – it is vibrant, fruit-forward and fun. It is pale in colour with bright cranberry and strawberry notes and like all of Benjamin Bridge’s wines, captures the sea-breeze essence of the neighboring Atlantic.

Not surprising but still the arousing and instigating Brut Rosé is startling and ready to offer a boost any given day and at any moment. It's a blush sparkler but it deals in so much more than this; it's just faintly hued and so specific in Benjamin Bridge autolysis and citrus, though here with notes of pomegranate and red currant. These meld seamlessly with lemon, lime and ginger in such an enervating bubble. Rises to a crescendo with every sip and settles down again. Works every time. Such fine work from the J-B Deslauriers team. 91 Michael Godel (Wine Align)

This vintage Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) is a serious wine that would give Champagne a run for its money. It epitomizes the house style, which is precise and taut with chalky texture. Wild fermented in neutral oak and stainless, this unfined and unfiltered artisanal sparkling, made without malolactic fermentation, is primed to remain youthful and vibrant over decades.

This is another bottle of quality bubbles from Benjamin Bridge. A pure chardonnay, this classic bottling has kept up the high level of quality on which the estate first launched, even if some of the other more ad hoc wines, still and sparkling, seem to have stretched the initial remit. I love the firm acids, ripe but not shrill, the mainly citrus flavours, the taut acids and tight minerality, the genuine cool climate styling. Autolysis is an ever-present feature, but it's far from oxidative at the same time, pointing towards long ageing. Length and depth are excellent. Really top notch stuff, drinkable now, but also cellerable for a decade I'd speculate at least. 93, John Szabo (Wine Align)
